Rosemarie F. Bolen

COLLINS –Rosemarie F. Bolen, age 71, passed away peacefully Monday morning, September 25, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Little Falls, NY November 8, 1951, she was the daughter of Cyril and Barbara (Krahn) Dobrovolc. She graduated from the former St. Mary’s Academy in Little Falls, Class of ’69. Rosemarie went on to Mohawk Valley Community College and then to Empire State College, earning a Liberal Arts and Social Science Degree.

On May 6, 1972, Rosemarie married Stephen C. Bolen at the St. Mary’s RC Church in Little Falls, NY.

Rosemarie and Stephen moved to the Collins area in the 70’s. She and her husband both worked for New York State. Rosemarie retired from the Buffalo Psychiatric Center. Prior to working in Buffalo, Rose worked over 25 years at the former Gowanda Pschyiatric Center in the sheltered workshop. At the time of her retirement, she was in charge of a group home at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center. She had more than 30 years employment with New York State.

Rosemarie was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. Joseph’s RC Church in Gowanda where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and would serve communion to shut-ins and patients at the Gowanda Nursing and Rehab Facility. Rose was also an active member of the Faith and Fun Bunch through the church. Other memberships include the Lions Club of Gowanda, where she served as past President and served on the club’s Board of Directors. She was also a member of the Collins Vol Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, where she also served as President, Vice President, and on the Auxiliary’s Board of Directors. She and her husband were members of the Loyal Order of The Moose Chapter 1382 of Gowanda, where she was on the Board and served as Treasurer.

Rosemarie was very active; she loved to travel with her family and enjoyed camping in her youth. Most recently, Rose and Stephen traveled across the country and abroad creating wonderful memories. Rosemarie also had a fondness for cardinals. She also enjoyed being a part of the lives of her children Matthew, David, and his wife Shana. She especially loved being with her grandchildren Chase, Weston, and Rinoa Bolen and supporting them in all their endeavors.

Surviving besides her husband of 51 years, Stephen C. Bolen, are their sons David (Shana) Bolen of Gowanda and Matthew Bolen of Blasdell. Rosemarie is also survived by grandchildren Chase, Weston, and Rinoa Bolen along with her siblings Andrew (Jeannie) Dobrovolc of Beavercreek, OH., John (Lorraine) Dobrovolc of Little Falls, NY and Joseph (Christine) Dobrovolc of Camposol, Spain. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St., Gowanda from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday September 30, 2023, at 10:00am from the St. Joseph’s RC Church 26 Erie Ave., Gowanda (please assemble at church). Interment to follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Gowanda.
