Florence “Punky” Marie (Swan) Nichols

Florence "Punky" Marie (Swan) Nichols, age 64, died on October 8, 2023, at UPMC Hamot in Erie,PA from complications following a stroke.

She was born on November 11,1958 in Newport News, Virginia, the daughter of the late Floyd J. Swan and the late Virginia I (Smith) Synder. On December 1,1979 she married Theodore Allan Nichols Sr. who survives.

She graduated from Little Valley Central School in 1976. She retired from Cattaraugus County Socialm Services as a Senior Examiner in 2014. After, she was the owner/operator of Gardens in ThymeGreenhouse.

Punky was an avid gardener and active woman who enjoyed the outdoors while hiking, kayaking, and relaxing around a bonfire. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds with her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking trips, painting classes, wine trips, and wine making with family and friends. Punky was a fan of the Buffalo Bills. She was a charter and lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 8734 of Little Valley, NY.

Family and friends will always remember her as a loving and caring person, who enjoyed creating lasting memories with all.

Besides her loving husband of almost 44 years, she is survived by two daughters, Kristin (Benjamin) Stoll of Little Valley, Melinda (Kenneth) Schrader of Kennedy; three stepchildren Theodore Nichols Jr. and Sherry (John) Charlesworth both of Cattaraugus, and Michelle (Kirk Liskow) Little of Little Valley; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney, Elijah, Mallory, Owen, Carter, & Cooper, as well as 1 great-granddaughter, Kinsley; four siblings, Harry Swan of Randolph, Laura Swan of Forestville, Clifford (Stephanie) Snyder of Bemus Point and recently reunited half-brother John (Robyn) Swan of Lockport; and several nieces and nephews.

Per Punky's wishes there will be no services. There will be a celebration of her life planned at a later date and will be announced by her family.
