Leslie S. “Bud” Morrison Jr.

Leslie S. “Bud” Morrison Jr., 100, of Fredonia, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023 at Brooks Memorial Hospital. Bud was born June 11, 1923 at home in Fredonia, the son of Leslie and Florence Wilcox Morrison. He was was drafted into the Unted States Army inJanuary 1943 at the age of nineteen to serve his country in World War II. Bud landed in Liverpool England around June/July of 1943 and proceeded to travel to Ireland, then Scotland where they met up with other Allied Forces. Soon they were convoying down the coast of Great Britain on the White Cliffs of Dover, on their way to the beaches of Normandy. He landed on Omaha Beach. After the soldiers broke through following D-Day, Bud’s military career took him next to Belgium then finally to the Rhineland, Germany. He was in Leipzig, Germany when VE Day came, and theGermans surrendered. He was discharged in November 1945, earning the European- African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Bud returned to the United States and went to work at Damon Motors, Dunkirk for 10 years and then went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years.

He married his high school sweetheart, Ruthanne Dikeman in August 1946. He was an avid hockey fan, loved to watch his deer in the backyard and always enjoyed good Manhattan!

Bud is survivied by two sons Daniel L. Morrison, and Brent A. Morrison; four grandchildren: Barry (Lisa) Morrison, Audra (Brett) Comerford, Nicholas (Alicia) Morrison, and Katelyn Morrison; three great-grandchildren, Mitchell Morrison, Madeline Morrison and Noah Voss; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Leslie and Florence Morrison, his wife Ruth Dikeman Morrison, Bud is predeceased by four siblings Robert Morrison, Marjorie Hammon, Richard Morrison, and Mildred Platt; and daughter-n-law, Sharon Morrison.

Funeral services will be private. Interment will be on Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
