Raymond “Ray” B. MacDonald, 78, of Westfield, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Corry Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease caused by Agent Orange poisoning.
Ray was adopted by his parents Norwood and Dorothy (Peterson) Macdonald as a baby. Ray graduated from Staunton Military School in 1964 and was drafted by and served in the United States Army (1968-1969) during the Vietnam War.
Along with being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, He held many positions in his life. From being a heavy equipment operator in the steel mills of Ohio to being part of the long-haul trucking industry where he proudly earned a spot in the million-mile club. Ray was also a lifetime member of the Mayville NY VFW Post 8647, a past member of Brocton NY American Legion Post 434 and the Westfield Moose Club 118. Ray will be remembered by many for his quick jokes, shenanigans and love of Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.
Survivors include his wife Annette (Bausum) MacDonald. His children Melinda “Mindy” (Michael) McGuinn of Fredonia NY, Heidi (Michael) McGuinness of Mint Hill NC, Ryan and Matthew both of Myrtle Beach SC, Nicole Carroll of Maryville TN, Kevin (Shana) of Midland TX, Halleenna (Daniel, Jr) Scriven and Stepson Channing Breads-Bausum both of Westfield NY. His grandchildren Kaya McGuinn, Wilson McGuinn, Patryk MacDonald, Eryk MacDonald, Madison Harp, Merick Harp, Jackson Harp, Gunner Carroll, Ryder Carroll, Ryan Schermerhorn, Hannah Rae Wakley, Jackson Chancellor, Owen Chancellor, Crosby MacDonald, Hattie MacDonald, Eldon Scriven, Trinity Williams and Cousin Judy Hall.
Ray’s wishes were to be cremated and the ashes scattered on the water which would happen privately with the family. A celebration will be held in July 2024.
