George H. Weiskerger

George H. Weiskerger, 76, of Irving, NY passed away on Sunday evening November 5, 2023 at the Buffalo VA Hospital with his family at his side.

He was born on October 5, 1947 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Roy and Lillian (nee Leyh) Weiskerger.

He married Dawn Knarr on August 20, 2011 in Irving, NY.

George graduated from Frontier High School in 1965. He was a proud patriot serving his country during the Vietnam War in the U. S. Air Force from 1967-1971.

He worked for Tops Grocery stores as a baker for many years, retiring from the Jamestown store as a supervisor after more than 30 years of service.

George was very active in the community in which he lived. He joined the Sunset Bay Fire Dept. on August 28, 1973 making him a 50 yr member. He held every administration position at the fire dept., past chief, past president and was 30 yr member on the board of directors. He also served as a councilman for the Town of Hanover.

In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, he was an avid hunter, a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan and loved to go to the casino with his wife Dawn and friends.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn Weiskerger; four sons, Kevin (Melinda) Weiskerger of Irving, NY, Robert, Aaron and Jason Weiskerger all of Silver Creek, NY; four cherished grandchildren, Kaelee, Rylee, Layla and Isabella Weiskerger; six siblings, Ernest (Patricia) and Roy (late Sandra) Weiskerger, Kathleen(late Kenneth) Hartloff, Edith(Brian) Kelly, Joan (Jim) Breitwieser, Patricia (Chuck Hinman) Nicholoff and Edwin Weiskerger; also survived by many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Weiskerger, a sister, Elisabeth Davis and twogranddaughters, Madelyn and Alysen Weiskerger.

Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 4-7 PM, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11 AM. Burial will be made in the Glenwood Cemetery.
