Elizabeth M. Bixby

Born in the Markham family homestead in the Town of Perrysburg September 7, 1923. The daughter of Clarence A. and Estella (Smith) Markham.

Elizabeth married Donald Bixby March 31, 1945 Donald passed away June 3, 2004. Together they had four children; Kay L. Goulding of Fredonia, NY, Richard B. Bixby of Logan , VT. William D. (Denise) Bixby of Howell, NJ and Patricia A. (Kevin) Lytle of Fairfield, MT. 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren , 5 great great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews and cousins survive .

Beth was a very humble person , never wanted any attention brought her way, she and Don raised their family in Dayton, NY before downsizing to a home in Gowanda. She was a good cook and would make a cream cod dish that had people in line waiting for her to share, which she did . Beth was a member of the Gowanda United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and a part of the church choir. Beth worked at various places while juggling raising her family. She worked at the former Snyder’s Candy in Gowanda , the Gowanda Electronics and was a Therapy Aid for more than 10 years at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center.

Besides her husband Donald of 59 years Beth was preceded in death by her 3 brothers; Chuck Markham, Richard Markham and Edward Markham.

As per Beth’s wishes a graveside memorial will be held in the spring/summer at the Jolls Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband .

Arrangements are by the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda, NY.

If desired, memorials may be made to a local charity of ones choice.
