Shirley Jean Mancuso

Born on Oct. 20, 1937, in Silver Creek, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Evelyn (Benton) Austin. On Aug. 8, 1962, she married the love of her life, the late Gillis J. Mancuso, who predeceased her in 2014.

Mrs. Mancuso was longtime active parishioner of St. Joseph’s R. C. Church in Fredonia (where she served on the BINGO committee), Our Lady of the Angels R. C. Church in Cuba, and St. Philomena’s R. C. Church in Franklinville.

She is survived by a sister Betty L. Austin of Fredonia, and three sons and six daughters: Deborah Thomas, Louanne (Dr. Paul) Lundgren, the Rev. Dennis J. J. Mancuso, April (Robert) Smith, Danita (Bruce) Harrison, Frank (Tracey) Mancuso, Tammy Rettig, Anthony (Gina) Mancuso, and Juli Anderson. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was predeceased by a son Gillis J. Mancuso, III and one great-grandson, Caden Mancuso.

Visitation will be held on Wed, Dec. 20, 2023, from 10 am to 11:30 am at St. Philomena’s Church in Franklinville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with her son, Father Dennis J. J. Mancuso as Celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Belmont, NY.
