Dennis L. LaCross

Dunkirk, NY – Dennis L. LaCross, 71, of Werle Road, Dunkirk, Town of Sheridan, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown.

He was born April 4, 1952 in Corry, Pa., the son of the late Walter and Wilma Gladys (Roy) LaCross.

Denny was a 1970 graduate of Clymer Central School. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Mara in 1971 and to this union Andrea, Denette, Nicole, and Christy were born. They resided in Centralia.

Many years were spent working for various farmers and trucking companies in the area, most recently with Heil Transportation in Clymer and Anson Trucking in Dunkirk.

He was a member of the Hanover Fish & Game Club, Dunkirk Conservation Club, First Ward Falcon Club, and the Silver Creek VFW Post. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bee keeping, but most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by a companion, Patty Koczwara, three daughters, Denette “Dee” (Tom) Barber of Randolph, Nicole (Bob) Warsitz of Sinclairville, and Christy (Jamie) Willert of Kadoka, South Dakota. He will be missed by his dog and side kick; Bailey.

He is additionally survived by the mother of his children; Bonnie LaCross of Kadoka, SD, eight grandchildren; Craig Newman, Reba Munson, Curt Spontaneo, Jeremy and Grace Warsitz, Jessa, Jayla and Jiana Willert, four great grandchildren, a sister, Barbara Hoitink of Mayville, a brother, Stewart LaCross of Sherman, numerous nephews and nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Andrea LaCross, an infant grandson, Dakota Munson, and siblings, Robert and Wayne LaCross and Beverly Hoitink.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the special nurses and most caring aides for the care and compassion during his many visits.

As per Dennis’ wishes, there will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held later and will be announced. Burial/Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Frewsburg.
