GOWANDA — Elwood Mohawk Jr. age 66 of Gowanda passed away unexpectedly Monday evening January 29, 2024 at the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville .
Born in Gowanda into the Turtle Clan April 2, 1957 the son of Elwood Sr. and Ellen “Ellie” (John) Mohawk.
Elwood retired in 2017 from Local 22 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union in Buffalo where he was a Steamfitter. He worked in Local 395 prior and had 30 plus years as a Steamfitter.
A lifetime member of the James Cruden VFW Post 5007 Auxillary, Elwood was also a member of the Sons of The American Legion Post 409 both of Gowanda.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen (Vance) Mohawk, 2 sons ; Elwood ” Bradley” (Heather) Mohawk of Gowanda and Andrew Mohawk also of Gowanda . Grandson; Karson Mohawk and three sisters; Sharon( Elmer John) Mohawk of Irving , LouAnn Mohawk of Gowanda and Susan Mohawk also of Gowanda . 3 nieces and a nephew also survive.
Elwood was preceded in death by his parents .
Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda from 2:00-5:00pm on Friday February 2, 2024. Calling hours will close with a prayer at 5pm.
