Frank Charles Kusiowski

COLLINS — Frank Charles Kusiowski, 85, of Collins, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg surrounded by family. He was born on July 3, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY and was the beloved husband of Anita Herman Kusiowski.

Frank was a United States Navy Veteran retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer with 32 years of service. He later retired from the Collins Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer. Frank was a lifetime member of AmVets, the Gowanda American Legion and Gowanda VFW, as well as a devout member of St. Joseph’s RC Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a 50 year member of the Collins Volunteer Fire Department. Frank drove school bus for Gowanda Central School and enjoyed riding his motorcycle; he was a member of the Fleet Reserve, the Chief Petty Officer Club, Blue and Red Knights Motorcycle Clubs as well as the Gowanda Moose Club and the Slovenian Club.

Besides his beloved wife of 61 years, Frank is survived by three sons; Frank Kusiowski Jr., of Maryville, TN, Joseph Kusiowski of Little River, SC, and Daniel (Ruth) Kusiowski of Maryville, TN, as well as a daughter, Kim Palmquist of Chester, NH. Also surviving is a brother, Richard (Barbara) Kusiowski of Stamford, CT, and a sister, Mary (Robert) Stelley of Gowanda, as well as six grandchildren; Chandler Kusiowski, Eryka (Zachary) Szerbiak, Kyle Kusiowski, Nicholas Palmquist, Stephanie (John) Kane, Joey Stearns, four great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, the late Joseph and Mary (Gwiazdzinski) Kusiowski.

Friends may call on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 4-7 pm at Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main St. in Gowanda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10 am at St. Joseph’s RC Church in Gowanda.

Burial with military honors will be in Holy Spirit Cemetery in North Collins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Response to Love Center, 130 Kosciusko St, Buffalo, NY, Collins Volunteer Fire Department, or any charity that supplies service dogs for veterans.
