James W. Hall

COLLINS — James W. Hall age 72 of Collins passed away Saturday January 6, 2024 at the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville surrounded by his brother Alan and Alan’s wife Monica after a long battle with Cancer.

Born in Gowanda July 8, 1951 the son of Warren and Helen (Gay) Hall.

Jim Graduated from Gowanda Central School, Class of 1969, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Geneseo State University in 1973 he then obtained his Masters’s degree from The State University at Buffalo in 1975 with an understudy degree in Reading.

Jim taught at various school districts throughout western New York, he was a member of the NYS Teachers Association. His teaching included ; Erie Community College (South Campus) where he mentored several students, his teaching also included Gowanda, Randolph and Blossom Gardens Friends School in Collins Center. Jim also taught for a short period for the former JN Adam Developmental Center in Perrysburg.

Jim Loved to travel and went on several trips with the LK Painter Center and made trips to Europe when his health permitted. He loved coin, stamp, and rock collecting, he was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabre fan.

Jim was a lifelong member of the Collins Friends Meeting Church in Collins where he served on the church’s Board of Directors, He was the Executive Director of the LK Painter Center he held this position at the inception of the Center’s opening. He also was very involved with LOVE INC. In Gowanda. Jim was an excellent and thorough grant writer in his day, his grant writing had him networking politically and was well respected in political circles due to his ability and intelligence for grant writing, many organizations benefited from Jims commitment. Jim was the go-to guy to get the job done. Jim for many years was the Executive Director of the Development for the Blossom Garden Friends School.

Survivors Include a brother Alan (Monica) Hall of Collins ; a nephew Nathan (Andrew Lynes) Hall of Denver, Co. A niece Cassandra (Ryan America) Cox of Buffalo and a Great Nephew Warren Benjamin Cox. Jim is also survived by his Church Family.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Warren Hall (1972) and his mother Helen (Gay) Hall (2001).

A Celebration of Jims life will be held Saturday January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am from the Collins Friends Meeting Church 2345 Main St. Collins, NY 14034 (please assemble at church). The family will bury Jim privately in the Collins Center Cemetery next to his mom and dad .

Alan and Monica want to thank everyone, whether it was church family, the hospitals or the ambulance service that went above and beyond to make Jims last few years the best it could be ; keeping him at home and allowing him to maintain a source of Independence that without all of you wouldn’t have been possible .
