GOWANDA — Marilyn J. Reid Noecker ( NeË Cook) age 84 of Gowanda and Lake Wales , Fla passed away Friday December 22, 2023 in Florida surrounded by family .
Marilyn was born in Gowanda September 20,1939 the daughter of Stanley C and Marion D. (Quinnan) Cook.
Marilyn married David Reid in Gowanda in 1959. David went home to be with the Lord in May of 2020. She married Casimir “Paul” Noecker on September 10, 2022, Paul survives.
Marilyn was a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church Gowanda and St. Matthews RC Church in Winter Haven , Fla. Marilyn and Paul resided in Lake Wales where they had many special and dear friends .
Marilyn wore many hats through the years , besides being a wife and mother of 4 she owned and operated the Gowanda Liquor Store and worked at Winsmith Knife Factory in Springville and sold supplies for Curtis Knowles., worked at the former Knowles and Fisher in Gowanda , retiring from the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center where she worked in the Powerhouse.
Marilyn loved to sew , she made several quilts for family members and was involved with quilting groups throughout the area. An avid reader Marilyn would have several books going at a time and could pick up where she left off with each one. She volunteered at the Library in Winter Haven . Marilyn also loved going on cruises and her and her husband David traveled all over on their Harley Davidson Motorcycle . She was the family historian , loved playing cards and working on crossword puzzles along with cooking , creating great meals and was known for being a phenomenal story teller; she could remember with great detail certain life events that involved family members and world happenings . Marilyn was also a member of the Chautauqua Kinzua H.O.G. Club.
Surviving besides her husband Paul is a daughter Rev. Karen M. (Rick)Cleveland of Cherry Creek, a son Morgan D. (Denise) Reid of Gowanda , Daughter in law Gerrie ( late Brian) Reid of Gowanda , stepchildren Mary ( Chris) Partridge of Delevan and Paul ( Jennifer) Noecker of Rome, NY Grandchildren Matthew (Amanda) Eyring, Melinda (Jesse Montgomery) Lecceardone, Katelyn (John) Hines, Sara (Rob Colantino) Booth, Brittany (Garrett) Hirschman, Jackdaleth Monticello, Ethan ( Christina) Reid, Jacob (Chelsea Renaldo) Reid and Michael Gentner. Marilyn is also survived by 17 great grandchildren and many step grand and great grand children , a brother Michael (Donna) Cook along with many nieces and nephews .
Besides her parents and her first husband Marilyn was preceded in death by 2 sons Brian and Kevin Reid and a step daughter Felicia .
A Memorial Mass Celebrating Marilyns life will take place SATURDAY FEBRUARY 3, 2024 at 10:00 am from the St. Joseph’s RC Church East Main St. Gowanda (please assemble at church) . Marilyn will be laid to rest in the Pine Grove Cemetery ( corner of Zoar and Vail Roads) .
If desired memorials may be made to a local charity of ones choice .
The family wishes to thank everyone for the kind words, prayers and loving gestures so many have shown.
