Michael Gernatt Sr.

Collins – Michael Gernatt Sr., 74, of Collins, NY passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Autumn View Nursing Home in Hamburg.

He was born on May 3, 1949 in Gowanda, son of the late Francis and Betty (Colvenbach) Gernatt Sr. He was a graduate of Gowanda Central School, and graduated from Bryant and Stratton College with his degree in Accounting. For many years, he ran the Gernatt Family Dairy Farm on Brown St.in Collins, NY and worked for Gernatt Asphalt in Collins,NY for many years.

He was a member of the Epiphany of our Lord RC Church in Langford, and was active in 4-H as well as an avid bowler. He was also well known for making his famous Mike’s Fudge and homemade wine.

Mike is survived by three sons; Jamie (Stacy) Gernatt of Fairfax, VA, Jason (Casey) Gernatt of Jamestown, NY and Michael (Stephanie) Gernatt Jr. of Gowanda, NY . Also surviving are three daughters; Beth (John) Waterman of Perrysburg,NY Lisa (Bryan) Gernatt of Collins,NY and Amanda (Matthew) Gernatt of Irving,NY. Mr. Gernatt is also survived by three brothers; Francis “Joe” (Sandy) Gernatt Jr. of Collins, James (Jeanne) Gernatt of Collins, Thomas (Phylis) Gernatt of Collins, and a sister of Jeanne Keller of Gowanda. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren; Ava, Gianna, Aiden, Brooklyn, Camden, Ethan, Maverick, Emmerson, Brayden, Logan, Colton, Mason, Lexi, Ella, Ally, Jase, and Xander, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm from Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main St. in Gowanda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11 am from Epiphany of our Lord RC Church in Langford.
