Karen M. Tramuta

Karen M. Tramuta, 74, of Dunkirk passed away following a long battle with cancer on March 29, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side. Born on June 3, 1949 in Dunkirk to the late Frank and Leocadia (Glapa) Katulski.

After graduating from Dunkirk High School in 1967, Karen dedicated 32 years of her life to shaping young minds as a teacher at Fredonia Baptist Nursery School.

Her passion for education and nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Karen’s warm and genuine personality, paired with her exceptional listening skills and ever-present smile, endeared her to students, colleagues, and friends alike.

Karen’s dedication to her students and love for her family defined her life.

In addition to her passion for teaching, Karen had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, talented artist, enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, and loved spending time with her many friends.

She was also a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church.

Family was Karen’s foundation, and she cherished every moment spent with her husband of 51 years, Mike Tramuta, whom she married on August 25, 1973. Together they raised their children Todd (Lisa) Tramuta, Heather Tramuta, Gerald Tramuta, Jeffrey (Micaela) Tramuta, and Shaleen Tramuta (Josh) Conley. Karen took great joy in her role as a mother and was immensely proud of her nine grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear and close friends.

Preceding are her parents Frank and Leocadia (Glapa) Katulski and sister Patricia Katulski.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
