Shirley M. (MacCubbin) Bull

Shirley M. (MacCubbin) Bull, 88, of the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Farel Road, Fredonia, NY, died Monday April 15, 2024, with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Bull was born in Biddeford, Maine on May 7, 1935, to the late William and Enid (Church) MacCubbin. Shirley attended Cassadaga Valley School. On November 9, 1957 Shirley married Lynn R. Bull Sr. The couple was married 55 years at the time of Lynn’s death in 2013. She worked as a teacher’s aide at LoGuidice Educational Center and in her earlier years at G.C. Murphy Company in Fredonia. She enjoyed playing bingo, word search puzzles and reading. Above all, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by three daughters: Sharon Stevens, of Dunkirk, NY, Dee-Dee (Kevin) Deering of Fredonia, NY; and Janice Bull (Dan Parks) of Portland, NY; two sons: Lynn (Rebecca) Bull, Jr. of Bemus Point, NY and Ron (Luann) Carlson, of Indiana; seven grandchildren: Christina (Carl) Olson, Angela Leone, Nicole (Jake) Sobecki, Alicia Deering, Brett Kolassa, Paul Velzy and Michael Carlson; Three step-grandchildren: Ty, Jevon and Brenden Uhlig; great-grandchildren: Carson and Camryn Olson, Lila, Emma and Hunter Sobecki, Kash Carlson and Liam Velzy; three sisters: Mary Jones of Georgia, Roberta Smith of Cassadaga, N.Y. and Lucille (Robert) Putnam of California; two sisters-in-law: Fran Church and Maxine Gens.

Besides her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by: her husband, Lynn R. Bull, Sr., who died April 23, 2013; a brother, Donald Church; an infant sister, Nadine MacCubbin and two grandsons: Brad Stevens who died November 14, 2023 and Thomas R. Leone who died September 15, 2009.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 3-6 pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6 pm. A private interment will take place at the Webster Cemetery at a later date.
