Dorothy Rhea Allen Ebling

Dorothy Rhea Allen Ebling, 93 years young, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Born May 21, 1930 in Drakesboro, Kentucky, she met her husband, Eugene Raymond Ebling at the age of 19 and moved with him to New York where they married and spent the remainder of their years together. She never remarried after his passing in December of 1980. She would always remark that he was her one and only true love. Dorothy spent her life as a homemaker raising five children (of whom she often remarked could do no wrong). She perfected many recipes and everyone benefitted from her love of baking. She was an avid bird watcher having full feeders at all times with wild bird food, suet cakes, and sweet nectar for the hummingbirds. She was an avid reader of the Bible and of fiction, Nora Roberts as her favorite author. Dorothy never grew tired of romance novels. Her days were filled with soap operas, game shows and crime dramas. You couldn’t get her to miss her soaps! Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Eugene, and her eldest son, Gene-Rusty (Janice) Ebling. Mother to Sandra (Dan) Ebling-Maggio, James (Tanya) Ebling, Matthew (Tracey) Ebling, and Julie (Thomas) Obert. Grandmother to Nicole Maggio, Rachel Ebling, Rebekah Ebling, Lindsay Ebling, Jordan Ebling, Tia Palmer, Justin Palmer, Chelsea Ebling, Ashley (Justin) Ebling, Jacob (Lindsay) Killion, Dallas (Kyrie) Delcamp, and Jess (Cody) Jackson. Great Grandmother to Kaydence, Orion, Isabella, Ophelia, Bailey, Chloe, Cain, Mya, Layla, Hayden, Steven, Spencer, Alex, Cali, Jaxson, and Cameron. Dorothy donated her body to the Jacob’s School of Medicine at the University of Buffalo. Her ashes were returned to us in April and a Celebration of Life is planned for June 22, 2024 at the Tri-Church Parish, 41 E. Main St., Brocton, NY from 2 PM to 4 PM.
