Janet R. Jarvis

Born on October 9, 1931, in Teaneck, NJ, she was a daughter to Chester and Ruth (Ryan) Stansfield, who preceded her in death along with her brother, Donald Stansfield.

After completing her Bachelor’s in Teaching, Janet devoted her career to inspiring young minds as the Head Librarian at the Dunkirk Public Library in Dunkirk, NY. Her passion for literacy and youthful imagination earned her special recognition in 1997, acknowledging her innovative children’s programs that greatly impacted the Dunkirk community.

Janet’s love for life was as vast as her love for learning. An avid bird watcher, she also fervently supported the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, embodying the spirit of a true fan.

Above all, her joy was found in the laughter and stories shared with her children, Bradley (Mollie) Jarvis, Lisa (Robert) Head, and Brian R. Jarvis, her eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Janet’s legacy of warmth, wisdom, and unwavering family devotion will be fondly remembered and cherished. Her guiding light and nurturing presence have left an indelible mark on all those she touched. As she embarks on her final journey, her memory continues to be a beacon of love that will shine through the generations.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
