Patricia Ruth Pacos

Born on May 6, 1930, Patricia Ruth Pacos was a life-long resident of Dunkirk NY. She passedaway on May 1, 2024 after a brief illness. Patricia resided at Lincoln Arms Apartments, 430 Main Street, Dunkirk, before spending a short time at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Temple Road Dunkirk.

“Pat” was the youngest child of the late John and Stephania Walawender and is also preceded in death by 8 siblings, her husband Stanley B. Pacos and son Lawrence P. Pacos.

She is survived by daughters Victoria Snow of Phoenix, Arizona and Joan Jordan of Denver, Colorado, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Pat graduated from Mary’s Academy in 1949 and was later employed by Cease’s Commissary in Dunkirk. In addition to raising three children, Pat worked various jobs throughout her life including The Dunkirk Diner, the VFW Club, Dunkirk Middle School and Chautauqua County Office for the Aging.

Patricia was a devout Catholic, belonging to St. Mary’s/ St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish for most of her life. She was a member of the VFW Post 1017 Auxiliary for over 60 years and attained the office of 6 th District President. Pat was community minded, serving on the board of the Dunkirk Light House and volunteering at various organizations. She always willing to help out those in need and especially enjoyed crafting items to help brighten everyone’s day.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dunkirk Light House Park and Veterans Museum.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2-5 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
