George DeJoe

He is survived by his wife Brenda “Leigh” Blodgett DeJoe and his beloved dog, Sport; children Gina (Admiral) Lord of Fairport NY, and Steven (Kelly) DeJoe of Penn Yan, NY; grandchildren Derek (Alexa) DeJoe of Texas, Brielle (Michael Milillo) DeJoe of Texas, and Emily Lord of Manhattan. Also, George is survived by special cousins and friends Jim and Rose Conti of Brocton, step-son Michael “Shane” (Ashley Jerrell) Meadows of Virginia, granddaughter Taylor Meadows and great-granddaughter Gracie Mae Meadows, both of Georgia.

George owned and operated George’s Barber Shop on Main Street for 24 years. After retiring, George worked at Walt Disney World for 20 years before returning home to Brocton. George was a former member of the Brocton Fire Department, and was an organizer for the Brocton-Portland Bicentennial and a founding organizer of the Brocton Summer Festival.

George and Leigh are avid antique collectors and dealers, and have a booth at Hartfield Flea Market. He enjoyed visiting his family, cooking, and gardening. In earlier years, George enjoyed camping with his children at Lake Erie State Park and supporting Gina’s and Steve’s many activities.

There are no prior calling hours. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a future date.
