Arthur J. Lepp

Arthur J. Lepp

Arthur J. Lepp, 95, of Fredonia, passed away on August 28, 2024, after a long and happy life.He was surrounded by the family who adored him, and who will forever miss his entertaining jokes, silly songs, and colorful tales of his youthful misbehavior.

Art was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1928, to Fred and Bernice(Matusewicz) Sheedy. He was adopted by George and Florence (Davis) Lepp of Fredonia and was raised on a beautiful 60-acre property where he helped his parents with the farm. After marrying Frances Pierce, they raised their own seven children on the same family homestead. Art lived his entire 95 years on this property that he knew like the back of his hand. The land loved him in return by producing fresh garden vegetables year after year, although he did have a fat woodchuck who evaded and taunted him on a regular basis.

Art was a Millwright for Al-Tech Steel and retired in 1991. After retirement, he and Fran enjoyed traveling and lived in Hernando, Florida during the winter months. He loved baseball (he was a switch hitter – could bat both right-handed and left-handed), participated in boxing in his youth, was a loyal Buffalo Bills fan, and a skilled hunter (except for the above mentioned woodchuck). He also loved playing the lottery, which involved analyzing number patterns, keeping extensive charts and worksheets, and a whole lot of praying. He never won any big money prizes, but his unwavering optimism was an inspiration to all.

Arthur was predeceased by his wife, Fran, stepson Harry “Rook” Nolan, grandson Harry”Bud” Nolan, great-grandson Grant Nolan, great-granddaughter Lindsey Fox Rufa, daughter-in-law Bert Nolan, sons-in-law Jerry Hallquist, Ron Rose, and Alan Stewart.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret Slominski, stepdaughter Cassie Rose, stepson Arthur(Barb) Nolan, daughters Beverly Hallquist, Michele (John) Yorke, Kimberly Stewart, SusanNolan, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia on Tuesday, September 3 and services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 4 at 11 am with interment in Webster Road cemetery. A luncheon at the Beaver Club will follow.
