Connie R. Pope

Connie was born November 25, 1960, daughter of Dale and Alice (Thompson) Pope. Raised in Forestville, Connie graduated from Forestville High School. Connie studied nursing at BOCES, graduating at the top of her class. She was a member of the Forestville Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School with her best friend Brenda. Connie and Brenda were also candy stripers together at Brooks Memorial Hospital. She was a baton twirler with the Twirling Cadets. Connie was active in the Fredonia community as a member of the Fredonia Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary where she served as president for 2 years. Overcoming the challenges of being blind, Connie raised two sons and had a full and active life.

Connie is survived by her loving companion of 49 years, Richad Culmo; two sons: Joseph and Nicholas Culmo, both of Fredonia; granddaughter, Lacey; two sisters: Peggy Panek and Becky (Jeff) Yaklon, both of Dunkirk;a brother, Chris Pope, of Fredonia; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Connie is predeceased by two brothers: Wayne and Lance Pope. Flowers gratefully declined.

Memorial contributions in Connie’s memory maybe made to the Fredonia Fire Dept., 80 West Main Street, Fredonia, NY 14063 or CBA Vision Rehabilitation Services, 510 W. 5th Street.

A celebration of life service will be held and announced at a later date.
