Donald H. Haskin Jr.
WESTFIELD, NY – Donald H. Haskin Jr., (Little Budda)) passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2024, at age 60. He was born in Westfield and attended and graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School. After graduation, he completed Basic Training in the Army in Fort Knox, KY, and returned home after completion. After returning home he had brief residences in Florida and Brockport, New York, he settled in Westfield and was employed by various grape farms in the area, Nixon Farms, Vilardo Vineyards. Deakin Farms and Kapple Farms and well as the Chautauqua Athenaeum.
He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting with his father, fishing, camping, NASCAR, collecting Dale Earnhardt memorabilia and of course, you could find him watching the Buffalo Bills any Sunday afternoon. He had the gift of gab and storytelling. He loved sitting down and reminiscing. He also had a passion for reading a good book and was often known for reading 3-4 books a week.
Budda was predeceased by his wife (Laurie) and his mother (Trudy Haskin Stafford).
He is survived by his father, Donald H. Haskin, Sr. (Big Budda) of Westfield, NY, his sisters Kathleen Haskin of Brockport, NY, Kelly (Richard) Hotchkiss of Mayville, NY, Susan (Jerry) Fairweather of Westfield, NY, stepchildren Jason (Stephanie) Whitesell and Jeffrey Schermerhorn. He is also survived by his nephews RJ Hotchkiss (Ashley), McKenzie Hotchkiss (Caitlin), Joshua Smith and Noah Smith along with great nieces and nephews Jocelyn, Sydney and Owen Hotchkiss and Fionn Hotchkiss as well as his step-grandchildren, Logan, Mason and Madelyn Whitesell and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
At Budda’s request there will be no calling hours or service but please join us to honor and remember Budda at a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post 327, 7579 Main Road, Westfield, New York on September 14, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, Post 327 in Westfield or the Westfield Fire Department.
