Mary Jane Rahn, 76, of Dunkirk, NY, passed away Monday August 12, 2024, at home after several strokes.
She was born September 27, 1947 in Dunkirk, NY. Mary Jane attended St. Hyacinth School and graduated from Cardinal Mindszenty High School. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from SUNY Fredonia.
Mary Jane had a long a distinguished career in education as she taught at Dunkirk School No. 7 for 35 years.
She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with her sister Barbara where they would take in the various shows and visit the casinos. Mary Jane also enjoyed watching westerns on tv and was a fan of the Oakland Raiders football team and race car driver Rusty Wallace.
Mary Jane is survived by her sister, Barbara A. Palmer, of Dunkirk; her brother, Raymond R. Rahn (Virginia), of Sanford, NC; a nephew, Scott A. Rahn (Jill), of Gretna, NE; a niece, Christine A. Rahn, of Cary, NC; a great-niece, Alexandra R. Rahn and great-nephew, Andrew Rahn. She is also survived by several cousins.
She is predeceased by her mother, Wanda L. Rahn; grandparents, Martin and Jozefa Kulczynski and infant brother, John Martin Rahn.

Visitation will be held at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia, Friday from 5-8 pm, where prayers will be offered Saturday morning at 10:15 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Blessed Mary Angela Parish, St. Hyacinth Site, 295 Lake Shore Dr. E., Dunkirk, Saturday at 11 am, with Ellen Luczkowiak as the soloist.
The family thanks the staff of Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care and Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the care given to Mary. Also special thanks to Michael Ziegler for his help and support.
