David Allen Doane

David Allen Doane, 65, of Horseheads, NY, later of Lakewood, NY, departed this world unexpectedly on Thursday, September 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Doane; his mother, Patricia Ellis Doane Hoffman; his stepfather, Howard Hoffman; and his father-in-law, Leo C. Majka Jr.

David was a dedicated family man who valued integrity and character above all else. A proud veteran, he served his country with distinction as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army, earning several medals for outstanding service while stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he continued to serve his community for 35 years as a Corrections Officer at Lakeview Correctional Facility in Brocton, NY, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

One of David’s greatest personal accomplishments was earning his pilot’s wings at the Dunkirk Cessna Academy, fulfilling a lifelong dream. His adventurous spirit and love for learning were evident in every aspect of his life, from his passion for fixing things to his joy in teaching others.

David was the youngest of six siblings. He is survived by his brothers, Paul Doane (Jenny) and Michael Doane (Vicki), and his sisters, Jo Ellen Doane Suiter (Keith), Ruthanne Doane Gabriel, and Jan Doane Kinner (Fred). He is also survived by his loving in-laws, Timothy Majka (Bridget), Lori Calimeri (Tony), Renee Prechtl (Mark), and Nichole Bellair (Paul).

David leaves behind his beloved wife, Denise Majka Doane, and his six children: Joseph Doane, Michael Doane, Christopher Doane, Ryan Anderson, Brittany Anderson and Alyssa Mesta (Santosh), along with his cherished grandchildren: James, Layla, Avantika, and Vivik. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.

David’s greatest joys were spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and embarking on countless adventures with his son Joey. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and a “fixer of all things.” His legacy is one of love, service, and an unquenchable thirst for adventure.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David’s name to Autism Speaks or the Boys & Girls Club of Chautauqua County.
