Franklin W. Matney

DUNKIRK — Franklin W. Matney, 73, of Swan Street, Dunkirk, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Buffalo General Medical Center. He was born in Silver Creek on December 22, 1950, the son of the late William and Josephine (Porpiglia) Matney.

Franklin was a graduate of Silver Creek Central School, Class of 1969 and received his Associates Degree from JCC. He worked in the sales and service industry for many years and was currently working with Chautauqua County Rural Ministries in Dunkirk. Franklin was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Dunkirk.

He was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, a handyman, loved going for walks, listening to classic rock and being with his family.

Survivors include two daughters, Kelly (Brad) Fanale, of Forestville; Jenna L. Matney, of Fredonia; a sister, Janice (Robert) Manning, of Fredonia; and a brother, Donald (Judy) Matney, of Silver Creek. Also surviving are his previous wife and current companion Bonnie F. Orchard of Silver Creek, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, 319 Washington Avenue Dunkirk, NY 14048. Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.
