Kathleen M. (Christy) San George

Kathleen “Kay” Mary (Christy) San George, daughter of the late Stewart and Lorraine Christy of Dunkirk, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on September 17, 2024 at her home located in Franklin, TN surrounded by family.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, David A. San George Sr., her loving children, David A. San George Jr. of Palm City, FL, Jeff San George of Franklin, TN, and Christy Statz (David) of Franklin TN. In addition to her children, Kay’s legacy includes 11 cherished grandchildren: David San George III, Elizabeth (San George) Ebright, Sarah (San George) Folden, and Luke San George; Lydia San George and Nicolas San George; Emma Statz, Gwen Statz, Isabel (Statz) Vick, Stella Statz, and Anna Statz; and 2 great-grandchildren, with another on the way: Olivia San George and Margeaux Ebright.

Kathleen was born in Dunkirk, NY as the 5thof 9 siblings. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, siblings Joan Niedbalski, Sheila Tederous, Barbara Christy, Stewart “Pete” Christy and John Christy. Surviving siblings are Ellen Christy, Mary Jane Zbcazyniak, and Luke Christy, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

After growing up in Dunkirk and marrying her high school sweetheart, Kay settled in Silver Creek, NY where she and David raised their family. Kay for many years owned and operated a successful hair salon in Silver Creek, and was always willing to lend a hand in the community styling hair for school musicals or providing services in the home for clients unable to travel. After 37 years in Silver Creek, Kay and David relocated twice in retirement to remain near their children and grandchildren, eventually settling in Franklin, TN.

A celebration of life service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Dunkirk, NY on July 31, 2025, at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Silver Creek Fireman’s Association.
