Mary J. Leonard, 94, died at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab on Oct. 5, 2024. She was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Dunkirk, NY, the only child of Irene and Ralph De Jones.
Mary had been working as a nurse since her graduation from the School of Nursing program at Millard Fillmore Hospital in June of 1947.
Surviving are four children: Ricky D. (Guadalupe) Leonard of Monument, CO, Catherine W. Jackel of Orange, CA, Rebbecca S. Martel of Westfield, NY, and Mary E Leonard of Fredrickburg, TX, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Leonard, whom she married Dec. 20, 1945 and who died on June 16, 1991, and two sons, Ralph Wand Allen H.
There will be no funeral per Mary’s wishes, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
