Ronald James Rusch

Ronald James Rusch, 88, of Orlando, Florida, passed away Tuesday,October 1, 2024, from his battle with Lewy body dementia (LBD).

Hewas born in Dunkirk, New York on July 25, 1936, son to the late DanielA. and Ella (Bigler) Rusch.

He was survived by his wife, Donna Guzzetta Rusch of 32 years; brother, David (Loraine) Rusch; his sister, Nancy Durkin.

Predeceased by his parents; a brother, Daniel Rusch Jr. and sister, Peggy (Rusch) O’Husky.

Survived by his 5 children: Steven (Lisa) Hawkins-Rusch, Greg Rusch, Kim (Jim) Jefferson, Doug Rusch, Beth Rusch (Donna Carver), eight nieces, five nephews, and six grandchildren. Also survived by four stepchildren; Dianna (David) Stanton, Dr. Michael (Rosie) Slate,Darren (Amanda) Slate, Denise (Gregg) Magnus and four step- grandchildren.

In 1954, Ron graduated from Cardinal Mindszenty High School and joined the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC from 1954-1956. He later studied at Michigan State and withdrew to go to work and later managed Rusch’s Restaurant, Joseph Anthony’s, and Shorewood CountryClub for over 50 combined years.

He loved the water and enjoyed boating in his spare time. He was compassionate and hardworking, an avid Buffalo Bills fan, and loved his family.

Ron moved to Orlando, FL in 1992 and married Donna Guzzetta on March 25, 1993, where they enjoyed having family and friends visit over the years, taking their children and grandchildren to all the fun sites in Orlando or just enjoying relaxing time by the pool. He will be greatly missed.

He will be buried in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. A celebration of life will be held in the summer.
