Dr. Thomas F. Burns

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Candace A. Burns, his twin brother Lawrence, and eldest brother Anthony Burns. The loving father of: Nicholas, Jude, Therese, Pauline, Mariana, Philomena & Maximillian Burns. Thomas was born October 4th, 1957, in Amherst NY to Lambert “Burt” and Marjorie S. (nee Snyder) Burns.

Thomas graduated from the Jacob School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at the University of Buffalo, Class of 1985. Thomas spent the next 39+ years serving his local community and working as an emergency physician at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, NY. He was known for his kind and compassionate bedside manner, unflappable humor and always managed to bring a smile to his patients and fellow physicians.

Friends and family are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 3-6 p.m. at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc.; 56 East Doughty Street, Dunkirk, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 10 a.m. at BMA Church of St. Hyacinth. Interment in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Thomas’ memory to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation.
