Richard F. Hoffman, Sr.
Richard F. Hoffman, Sr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world on November 27, 2024 at the age of 94.
He was born to Donald and Opal (Shirey) Hoffman on July 20, 1930, in Grove City, Pa. Several years after joining the United States Army, Richard married his beloved, Eleanor (Wood) Hoffman, and shared sixty-eight unforgettable years together. They have 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Richard was a retired NCO (non-commissioned officer) from the United States Army. He proudly served for twenty years, 1947 – 1967, including the Korean War. Following his military service he worked at Welch Foods in North East, Pa. Following his second retirement, he became self-employed as an electrician. Richard loved to hunt, travel, camp, square dance, roller skate, and his dog, Rosie
Richard is survived by his children, Richard F. (Martha) Hoffman, Jr., Edith Hudson, Kay (Gerald) Schwartz, Susan Kay Hoffman, and Barbara (William) Dunagan. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Keith, Brett, Andrew, Megan, Kimberly, James, Claire, Caylin, Sean, and 7 great grandchildren.
At his request, no funeral service will be held. Memorial donations in memory of Richard can be made to the Sisters of Mercy, Erie, PA, The American Legion, or the charity of your choice.
