Michael Scaglione

Michael Scaglione’s life was marked by his deep connections with family, friends, and a passion for sports. He passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, due to a medical condition, leaving behind his son, Michael R. Scaglione, and two brothers, Thomas Scaglione (Lecia) and Daniel Scaglione (Linda), along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank Scaglione (Jan), his parents, Anne and Frank Scaglione, and Joyce Bellisari. Growing up in Dunkirk, N.Y., Michael was a standout athlete at Cardinal Mindszenty High School, where he excelled in baseball and basketball. Michael was drafted and signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates straight after his high school graduation in 1971. His love for sports was a defining feature of his life, and he enjoyed sharing that passion with his family, particularly during spirited discussions about games and events. After his athletic pursuits, Michael dedicated much of his career to the gas and oil industry in central Ohio, collaborating with his brother Frank. In 1992, he married Joyce Beltisari, and together they welcomed their son, Mike, in 1993. Michael relished his role as a father, actively supporting Mike’s athletic endeavors and instilling in him a love for competition. Michael loved to cook and he particularly loved to cook for family and friends whenever he could. His specialty pork and mushroom dish will live on in the kitchens of all those who were lucky enough to have had it. In 2019, Michael retired to Phoenix to be closer to his son, embarking on a new journey while continuing to share his enthusiasm for Ohio State, the Buffalo Bills and the Indianapolis 500. Going to these events with his family were the highlights of his life! His friends and family will remember him for his vibrant personality, sports knowledge, and his knack for providing valuable advice – whether about sports or the best local sales. Michael’s legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unwavering support. He will be deedly missed by all who knew him.
