Alice M. McCarthy

Alice was a graduate of the former Kensington High School in Buffalo, Class of 1944 and worked part-time as a Secretary for M&T Bank in Buffalo before moving to Forestville. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Forestville and previously a choir member at St. James Parish in Buffalo. Alice loved the opera, theater, classical music, playing the piano, cooking andbaking, gardening and ceramics. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include four daughters Nadine McCarthy, of Forestville, Eileen (Bernard) Feldmann, of Silver Creek, Nancy McCarthy of Silver Creek, Nora (Scott) Gilman, of Forestville, four sons Michael (Lydia) McCarthy, of Lockport, Sean McCarthy, of Derby, Colin (Francine) McCarthy, of Williamsville, Brian (Nadine) McCarthy, of Tonawanda, and daughter-in-law Yvonne McCarthy of Silver Creek. Also surviving are 25grandchildren, 18great-grandchildren and her “adopted son” Charlie (Debbie) Burgio of West Seneca. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Gerald “Bud” S. McCarthy, whom she married on July 1, 1950 in St. James Parish, Buffalo and who died Nov. 5, 2008, a son Kevin McCarthy, infant brother William Wouk, brother Joseph Wouk, who died May 13, 2005, and two granddaughters- Lauren andTheresa Gilman.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville on Tuesday from 2-4 and7-9 PM from where Prayer Services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from Faith Community Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, 165 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, at 10 o’clock with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn officiating. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.
