1959-2025
Dr. Christopher Conlon, a cherished father, beloved partner, and devoted physician passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chris was born in 1959 in San Diego, California but spent the majority of his childhood on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation in Western New York State.
After moving to Knoxville, Tennessee, Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Tennessee in 1981 and completed his Doctor of Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School in 1986. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in1989. After completing his residency and marrying his former wife, Deborah Conlon, Chris began his career with the Indian Health Service. Chris later settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he worked as a well-respected internal medicine physician.
Known for his sharp intellect, gentle spirit, and unwavering dedication to his patients and loved ones. Chris’ gentle demeanor, calm presence, and quirky sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Outside of medicine, Chris was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, an avid skier and outdoorsman as well as a devoted family man. He had a special fondness for animals, especially the ones that made their way into his home over the years.
Chris is survived by his mother, Kathleen Conlon; his brother, Timothy Conlon and his wife Michelle of Versailles, New York; his three children, Abigail Conlon, and her fiance Jonathan; Sydney Snow and her husband Zack; Patrick Conlon; as well as his beloved partner of many years, Cynthia Chavez, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilber and Ethel Parker of Versailles, New York. He also leaves behind his aunts Jean Jemison (late Daniel); Janet Parker (late Barry) and Vicky Parker (late James) as well as many other cousins and relatives.
His memory lives in all of their hearts, and in the lives of the many family members, patients and friends who grew to know and love him.
A Celebration of Life Service for Chris will be held at 11am on May 17, 2025 at Wright Memorial Presbyterian Church on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Please come with your fondest memories as well as any stories to share.
