Frank L. Lewandowski

Frank L. Lewandowski, 92, of New Port Richey, FL, formerly of Fredonia, NY, passed away May 15, 2025 in Tampa, Florida under Hospice Care. Frank was born July 9, 1930 in Dunkirk, NY to Frank and Hedwig (Lorenz) Lewandowski. He graduated from Dunkirk High School and served in the United States Navy from Jan. 15, 1951 to Dec. 13, 1954. On June 9, 1962 he married the former Mary Parsons. Frank retired from CSX Railroad. He was Treasurer of Local Chapter of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Union. Frank was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church in Fredonia where he served was a Eucharistic Minister. Frank, along with his wife Mary, volunteered at St. Columban’s giving rides to residents for appointments and taking care of the gardens surrounding the facilities.

He was a former member of the Town of Pomfret Zoning Board. Frank was a longtime election volunteer for the town of Pomfret and volunteered at the Chautauqua County Fair’s Railroad exhibit. He enjoyed attending coin collecting meetings with his brothers to collect and sell coins. After retiring from CSX he enjoyed traveling to cities in the northeast by rail. He especially enjoyed Saturday morning coffee with his brothers and friends. Frank and Mary relocated to New Port Richey, Florida in 2012 to be closer to family. He continued to enjoy Saturday morning coffee, volunteering at Florida Trinity Hospital and playing bocce ball.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Beth (Roy) Zwolak of Tampa, Florida; grandsons: Alex (Shannon) Zwolak of Tampa, FL, and Mathew (Olivia) Zwolak of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren: Henry and Emmet Zwolak (Alex and Shannon’s children) of Tampa, FL; brothers, Ray Lewandowski of Fredonia, NY and Jim Lewandowski of Dunkirk, NY; nieces: Cindy (Ray) Coniglio of Fredonia, NY and Linda (Bill) Dowdell of Atlanta, GA and nephew, Daniel (Amy) Lewandowski.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Richard Lewandowski and David Lewandowski, and nephew, David J. Lewandowski.

Frank is survived by his brothers: Ray Lewandowski and Jim Lewandowski; nieces: Cindy (Ray) Coniglio, of Fredonia, NY, Linda (Bill) Dowdell, of Atlanta, GA; and a nephew, Daniel (Amy) Lewandoski, of Fredonia, NY;

Besides his parents, Frank is predeceased by his brothers: Richard Lewandowski and David Lewandowski and a nephew, David J. Lewandowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank and Mary will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY on Monday June 9, 2025 at 11 am.
