Mary (Parsons) Lewandowski

Mary (Parsons) Lewandowski, 95, of New Port Richey, FL, formerly of Fredonia, NY, passed away March 21, 2025 in Port Richey Florida under Hospice Care. Mary was born Jan. 12, 1930 in Morgantown, West Virginia to Charles Parsons Sr. and Nell (Blosser) Parsons. She earned a degree in education from West Virginia University. She taught at SUNY Fredonia and the Fredonia Central School District, where she was a physical education teacher and softball coach and from where she retired. On June 9, 1962, she married Frank J. Lewandowski. Mary was longtime member of St. Joseph Church in Fredonia, where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She, and her husband Frank, were volunteers at St. Columban’s giving rides to residents for appointments and taking care of the gardens surrounding the facilities. Mary was a longtime election volunteer for the town of Pomfret. She enjoyed trips with friends to the West Virginia glass factories. Mary and Frank loved traveling with friends to see sporting and cultural events throughout the northeast and Canada, They relocated to New Port Richey, Florida in 2012 to be closer to family. Mary and Frank adored their grandsons, Alex and Matthew. Before moving to Florida, they visited several times a year and made memories baking cookies, attending Florida theme parks and watching whatever sport their grandsons were playing. After Frank’s passing in 2022 her two great-grandsons, Henry and Emmet, became her favorite subject to talk about.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Beth (Roy) Zwolak of Tampa, Florida; grandsons: Alex (Shannon) Zwolak of Tampa, FL and Mathew (Olivia) Zwolak of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren: Henry and Emmet Zwolak (Alex and Shannon’s children) of Tampa, FL; brother-in-law’s: Ray Lewandowski of Fredonia, NY and Jim Lewandowski of Dunkirk, NY; nieces: Cindy (Ray) Coniglio of Fredonia, NY and Linda (Bill) Dowdell of Atlanta, GA and nephew, Daniel (Amy) Lewandowski.

Besides her parents, Mary is predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Lewandowski; a brother, Charles James Parsons, who died 1945; brother-in-law’s: Richard and David Lewandowski and nephew, David J. Lewandowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary and Frank will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave, Dunkirk, NY, Monday June 9, 2025 at 11 am.
