Vernon Leland Hallquist

Born Aug. 13, 1946 in Jamestown, New York, Vernon was the son of Harry and Evelyn (Gustafson) Hallquist. A graduate of Dunkirk High School, he married the love of his life, Alene Cybart, on Jan. 15, 1966. Vernon worked as a Blast Furnace Operator at Rouge Steel and then for Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Dom Polski Club as well as the Moniuszko Club, but his most treasured times were those spent with his family.

Vernon is survived by Alene, his wife of the past 59 years; three children: Kimberly (Thomas) Watson, Wendy (Dana) Horen and Monica Hallquist; three grandchildren: Mikayla Horen, Ethan Horen and Clare Hallquist; as well as four siblings: Allan (Brenda) Hallquist, Harry (Barbara) Hallquist, Marcia Hallquist and Lorri (Sue Ruhe) Hallquist. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son Vernon Hallquist, and three siblings: Gerald Hallquist, Ronald Hallquist and Steven Hallquist.
