Charles L. “Charlie” Meder, 92, of Stockton, passed away peacefully with family at his side, Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at home.
Born May 13, 1933 in Rudolph, OH he is the son of the late Lawrence and Blanche Thatcher Meder.
Investing with his father in a farm at the age of 15, Charlie was a farmer all of his life. He moved to Stockton in 1968 and with his wife and family owned and operated the Char-Don Farm in Stockton. Charlie was also employed as a school bus driver and served as Town Assessor for 24 years in Portland, Ripley and Stockton.
He was a member of the Stockton Community Church and had served as a Deacon and member of the choir, member of the former Cassadaga Valley Kiwanis Club, a 57 year member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Company serving in various capacities including Chief, was a supporter of FFA, 4H leader, Life member of the Odd Fellows Hunting Club and was a longtime Red Cross volunteer and extended help in numerous disaster relief efforts including, Ground Zero/911, Katrina and numerous hurricanes and local needs of assistance.
Charlie loved hunting, fishing, catering chicken BBQ events, spending time with his children, grand and great-grandchildren and attending their sporting and educational events.
Husband of 60 years to the late Donna Phillips Meder who he married Nov. 23, 1952 and who died Jan. 7, 2013; father of Richard (Debby), Bryan (Michelle), Donald (Colleen), Robert (Rebecca), Mark (Kim) and the late William and James Meder; grandfather of 17; great-grandfather of 31; brother of the late Judy (late Daniel) Ray. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation Monday 4-7pm in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Funeral service Tuesday 11am in Stockton Community Church, 4454 Railroad Ave. W., Stockton.
