David A. San George

David Andrew San George, 82, beloved husband of the late Kathleen “Kay” Christy San George, passed away on May 21, 2025.
David was the son of the late Anthony and Stella (Smith) San George of Dunkirk, New York.
He is survived by his loving children, David A. San George Jr. of Palm City, FL, Jeff San George of Franklin, TN, and Christy Statz (David) of Franklin, TN. David was born and raised in Dunkirk, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as by three brothers, Anthony, Samuel and Donald San George. David is survived by many nieces and nephews.
David’s most enduring legacy is in the relationships he fostered throughout his life. After marrying his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, he and Kay settled in Silver Creek, NY where they created a loving and supportive home to raise their family. In addition to successfully operating Dave’s Barber Shop in Silver Creek for many years, he also drove school bus and was known and loved as Dave the Bus Driver for a generation of Silver Creek children. David also worked for the Niagara Mohawk power company for many years, retiring from there in 2000. After 37 years in Silver Creek, David and Kay relocated twice in retirement to remain near their children and grandchildren, eventually settling in Franklin, TN, where David built many valued friendships in his neighborhood and at the local Cars and Coffee group. David believed a life should be measured by relationships, and he lived that every day by being good to all. If he saw a need he filled it, whether it be an apple pie for a neighbor, helping with a repair project, or providing advice. Most importantly, he has left behind a family that lives as he did, loving and supporting each other always.
A combined celebration of life service for David and Kathleen will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 328 Washington Ave., Dunkirk, NY on July 31, 2025, at 10 am. Arrangements by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY.
