David B. Reed

Survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois (Johnson) Reed. Children, Jeffrey Reed of Rochester, NY, Margie (David) Carlson of Fredonia, NY, Melinda (Tim) Heatley of Greenville, SC. Grandchildren, Jack Carlson, Nora, Mason, Sarah and Wyatt Bandhauer. Sister, Jackie Tietz. Nephew, and Godson, James Tietz. Many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dave graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1956, worked at Great Lakes Color Printing in Dunkirk before coming to Rochester to work as a pressman for the Democrat and Chronicle / Times Union Newspapers. He retired from Gannett in 2000.

Dave was an avid golfer, it was by far his favorite pastime. He began playing in his teen years as a caddy and continued throughout his life. He played locally at Brae Mar, Lakeshore and Durand Eastman Golf courses winning numerous tournaments over the years. A highlight of Dave’s golf career was working for PGA Ryder Cup in 1995 in Pittsford, NY and again in 2004 in Bloomfield Township in Michigan. In his later years he enjoyed bowling, reading and watching western-cowboy films.

Dave and his wife Lois enjoyed traveling to visit relatives around the country and took many river boat cruises. He was a loyal husband, loving father and a devoted grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends 4-6pm Wednesday June 18, 2025 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (west of Long Pond Rd.) Following visitation, a Memorial Service will be held at 6pm in the chapel of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers friends may make contributions to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 2652 Ridgeway Ave. Rochester, NY 14626 for the care they provided to Dave and his family.
