Donald L. Gens
Donald L. Gens passed away on June 14, 2025 near Buena Vista, Colorado. He was born on Jan. 4, 1958 in Dunkirk, New York to Richard and Theora Gens (nÈe DeGolier). He graduated from Cassadaga High School in 1976. He worked at Hope’s Windows for over 40 years and retired in 2022. Don is survived by his son Corey (Cory) Gens, his stepson Daniel Tobin, and the apple of his eye, his grandson Radnor Gens, as well as his other family members and friends. If you knew Don you know he loved cheering for the Buffalo Bills and spending time outdoors, marveling at the wonders of nature. Snowboarding, biking, kayaking, traveling, fly fishing, and hiking were among his passions. Early in life he helped establish the Zoar Valley Paddling Club where he mastered whitewater kayaking. Over the years he would take many kayaking trips, navigating Class IV and V rapids and even daring to go over waterfalls. He was always planning his next adventure and he was sure to bring plenty of delicious treats to share. Before he retired, he purchased a cargo van and transformed it into a living space so he could explore the country. He set off and circled the United States twice, ventured halfway down into Baja Mexico, and documented his journeys for friends and family on social media. His friends and son Corey were always in for a treat when they stayed with him on these adventures. The only thing to do was to relax and enjoy the ride, because he always had every experience planned down to the last detail, including home cooked meals. Don’s favorite saying was “Enjoy Life” and he certainly lived up to that saying every day. In honor of Don, his family encourages you to stop and take the time to “Enjoy Life”.
