Dr. John R. Tallett

With deep love and appreciation for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Dr. John Robert Tallett, 79, on June 2, 2025, in Fredonia, New York.

Born on Feb. 22, 1946, in East Molesly, England, John was a dedicated physician and trusted friend to many. He graduated from King’s College London School of Medicine, University of London Medical School, in 1969, and emigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1972 prior to settling in Fredonia. For more than five decades, he served as a compassionate and skilled obstetrician-gynecologist, devoted to improving the healthcare and well-being of women. In addition to his degree in medicine, John earned numerous credentials including Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians (LRCP), Membership of The Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (DRCOG), Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Canada (FRCSC), and Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).

John was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Marie. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Joan, his brother Paul (wife Cynthia; children Richard and Helen), and his children, Simon (wife Tracy, children Dakota and Sienna) and Sarah. He was also a cherished step-father to Sarah Viola (husband Mark Whitten) and Allison Griffin (husband Harmony; children Miles and Althea).

Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was known for his warm wit, inquisitive mind, and kind heart. He loved golf, had a lifelong passion for technology, and found joy in thoughtful conversation and laughter in the company of family, friends, and colleagues.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brooks Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care during his final days, in particular the nurses in the ICU, Dr. Askar and Dr. Al-Mando. John was proud to have worked at the same Hospital and valued the community he found there. As per his wishes, there will be no formal funeral or ceremony; however, a celebration of life will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society.

John’s legacy of care, curiosity, and love will live on through his family, his patients, and all who had the privilege to know him. On-line condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com. Arrangements by David J. Dengler, LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home.
