Michael G. Evancho, 86, of Hanford Bay, NY passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning June 10, 2025 at his home.
He was born on Jan. 13, 1939 in Lackawanna, NY, the son of the late John and Marie (nee Curran) Evancho. On February 6, 1960, he married the love of his life the former Joan Gaul at Our Lady Victory Basilica in Lackawanna, NY.
Michael is survived by four loving sons, Michael (Cindy) Evancho of Silver Creek, NY, Kip Evancho of Buffalo, NY, Brian Evancho Sr. of Silver Creek, NY and Blase Evancho of Hamburg, NY; nine cherished grandchildren, Danielle (Nick) Bozich, Rebecca Berdyck, Elizabeth (Ryan) Evancho- Leslie, Michael, Patrick, Brian (Adrianna)Jr., Brittany (Travis Reuther), Nicole and Maria Evancho; he also was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren; in addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years Joan Evancho and 4 siblings, Betty (late Bill) Kelly, Norm Evancho, Mary (late Joe) O’Meara and Tom (Cindy) Evancho.
Michael graduated from Baker Victory High School in 1957. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. He retired from National Fuel in 1995 after 35 years of service, where he worked as an equipment operator.
He enjoyed golfing and was a former member of Tri-County CC in Forestville, NY, wintering in Florida with his family and friends. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and attending their different activities and sporting events.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel 160 Central Ave, Silver Creek, NY on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt Carmel RC Church on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10 AM. Please assemble at the church. Interment will be private.
