Ronald G. Vetter
Ronald G. Vetter of Dunkirk passed on June 17th at Buffalo General Vascular after a brief illness. Ron was born on June 13, 1949 to Gordan and Elaine (Schnur) Vetter. He was a 1967 graduate of Dunkirk City Schools and attended SUNY Fredonia.
Ron was a NYS toll collector at the Exit 59 toll booth until his retirement in 2010.
Ron was a passionate baseball fan and had attended more than 2,000 ball games. He was also proud of his scorecard keeping and taking pictures at every game. A few of his favorite highlights was when he attended all seven games of the 1971 World Series, won by the Pirates over the Baltimore Orioles, and also saw John Elway play baseball in the 1982 New York- Penn League game for the Oneonta Yankees. He was an all around sports fan.
Ron is predeceased by his parents Gordan and Elaine Vetter and his sister Susan Dombrowski. Ron leaves behind his children Chris (Amanda) Vetter of Silver Creek, NY and Stephanie Vetter of Dunkirk, NY, his 5 precious grandchildren, adorable “grandpets”, nephew Joe Dombrowski of Florida, cousins, Aunts and Uncles.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to one’s favorite charity in Ronald’s memory.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc.; 56 E. Doughty St., Dunkirk, NY. Prayer services will begin at Noon at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will be held in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
