Bernice Evelyn Archer (Bea) Draudt

Born June 9,1935 Bea was the daughter of Herbert B Archer and Clara Munney Archer and grew up in Randolph, NY with her brothers and sister.

She had one daughter, Dawn Marie Draudt Bates of Brocton and two grandchildren Kristin(James) Zappie of Brocton and Richard Bates of San Diego.

A trailblazer in the 1960’s, Bea put herself through beauty school and opened her own business “Bea’s Beauty Hive” in Brocton, NY. Bea’s salon was a staple for years until chronic arthritis and carpal tunnel lead to a career change to a nurse’s aide at the Chautauqua Home where she worked third shift until her retirement.

In her retirement, Bea took care of her mother and was a giving and supportive friend to many neighbors in her 60 years as a Brocton resident.

She was known for her quick wit and dry humor. Bea enjoyed music, all types of puzzles,playing along to Wheel of Fortune, and supporting her grandchildren in all their pastimes.

Some of Bea’s happiest years were spent caring for her great granddaughter, Lillian Zappie and Great Grandson Anthony Zappie, and spending time with her youngest greatgrandchild, Anna Bates.

She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents Bea was predeceased by her three siblings, Patricia Archer Carlson, Herbert B Archer Jr and Richard Archer.

There will be a private graveside service at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery and a memorial service later this fall for family and friends.
