Lyle D. “Rick” Goodwin III

Lyle D. “Rick” Goodwin III, 68, of Dunkirk, passed away Sunday evening, July 6, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Silver Creek, N.Y., on April 25, 1957, husband of Deborah (Paul) Goodwin and son of the late Lyle D. Goodwin Jr., and Jane (Parcell) Goodwin.

Rick dedicated many years of his life to his career as a truck driver for Bestway Disposal. Beyond his professional life, he was beloved by family and friends alike for his funny personality and his good heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Family meant the world to Rick. He treasured every moment spent with them, especially his grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.

In addition to his devotion to family, Rick was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Deborah A. (Paul) Goodwin, whom he married on January 3, 1981; children Chad (Rick Arthur) Goodwin, Tobi (Michael) Marvin, Kristen (Dexter) Mullen, Erin Goodwin, Deborah Goodwin, Tammy Jo (Brandon) Threlkeld, and Joshua (Cierra) Goodwin; 23 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; siblings Randy, John, and Diana Goodwin, June (Stephen) Torrick, Michelle Ledoux, Dennis Goodwin, Constance Brown, Lawrence Levern, and Lisa (James) Andin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his brother Andrew Goodwin.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Ave., Dunkirk, N.Y. Interment will be held in private.
