Timothy Dale Hopkins

Timothy Dale Hopkins, 65, of Dewittville, NY, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 26, 1959, in Westfield, NY, the son of the late John G. Hopkins and Evangeline Merry Hopkins. Tim graduated from Sherman Central School and worked for many years at Regal Lumber,where he was nicknamed “Whiskers” because of his fondness for his long beard. That nickname followed him to B & L Wholesale, where he was employed for the last twenty years of his life,and where he developed many close friendships and was a beloved member of the team. Tim was a diehard Cincinnati Bengals fan and passed on the “Who Dey” tradition to many of his children and grandchildren. He was a family man and a lover of outdoors, enjoying camping,gardening, and hiking, among other outdoor activities. Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Anna Marie D’Auria Hopkins, whom he married on Apr. 11, 1981, and his six children: Dorianne Giles of Mayville, Maureen (Brian)Dirling of Dewittville, Tinaya Giles of Brocton, Walter (Laura) Hopkins of Tres Cantos, Madrid,Spain, Jerald Hopkins of Denver, Colorado, and Timothy Giles of Jamestown. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Rashmika Van Rensselaer of Jamestown, Kyara Caldwell of Brocton, Tandora Giles of Dunkirk, Matthew Giles of Westfield, Cathryn Gray of Sherman,Janaya Malone of Dunkirk, Zachary and Eliana Hopkins of Tres Cantos, Madrid, Spain, Samuel Gray of Dewittville, Aria Bentham of Brocton, and Bethany Giles of Mayville, along with his”bonus” grandchildren and his six great grandchildren. He was one of eight children, and all of his siblings survive him: Lyle (Lucretia) Hopkins of Sherman, Diann (Roger) Thoms ofSherman, David (Shirley, deceased) Hopkins of Mayville, Melody (Ronald) Blose of Pulaski,Virginia, Glenn Hopkins of Corry, Pennsylvania, Patsy (Murry) Dimon of Mayville, and Phillip(Debra) Hopkins of Dunkirk. He was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ina ddition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Maverick Giles. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at the Ashville Fire Station, 5338 Stow Rd, Ashville, NY 14710. Memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics (2821 Wehrle Drive, Suite 7,Williamsville, NY 14221), an organization that Tim supported each year through the charity golftournament that his employer, B & L Wholesale, holds annually.
