Daryl S. Oakes

Daryl S. Oakes, 59, of the town of New Albion, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025 at his home. He was born on April 21, 1966 in Gowanda, son of the late Fred and Janice (Philbrick) Oakes.

Daryl was a lifelong logger, having worked in the woods since the age of 18. He always enjoyed the outdoors, specifically hunting and fishing, and loved to four-wheel on his land. At a time he had a hobby farm and enjoyed tending to his animals as well. Daryl seemed to always be tinkering on something, and also partook in the Antique tractor pulls in Stockton.

Mr. Oakes is survived by two sons, Kordell (Madison) Oakes of North Otto, and Kade (Abigail) Oakes of South Dayton; and three daughters, Kattelle Oakes of South Dayton, Kelby (Trenton) Oakes of South Dayton, and Summer (Dustin) Bean of Cattaraugus. Also surviving are two sisters, Debbie (Scott) Miller of Cattaraugus, and Dawn (Tarry) Klahn of East Otto, as well as two sisters-in-law, Debra Oakes of Cherry Creek and Betty Oakes of Cattaraugus. He is also survived by a beloved grandchildren, Kolton “Elwood”, Kendyl, and several nieces and nephews, along with his best friend his dog Riddick.

Besides his parents, Daryl is predeceased by two brothers, David and Danny Oakes.

Private family services will be held.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
