William L. Glazier, M.D., FACS

William L. Glazier, M.D., FACS died on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Hiram, GA at the age of 92. He was the son of Dr. George and Gladys Glazier and the husband of Evelyn Merrill.

He was a lifelong resident of Gowanda, NY and graduated from Gowanda High School, Harvard University, University of Buffalo Medical School, and Millard Fillmore Hospital Surgical Residency. He was a Board-Certified General Surgeon who along with Evelyn Merrill, his office nurse and surgical scrub nurse, performed general, orthopedic, gynecologic, vascular and endoscopic surgery at Tri County Memorial Hospital in Gowanda for 40 years.

He was a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons, a clinical instructor University of Buffalo Medical School, the athletic physician for Gowanda High School, little league sports, and Newtown Lacrosse team, surgeon for the N.Y.S. Prison Systems, medical director of the Gowanda Ambulance, and certified N.Y.S. EMT instructor, as well as an avid hunter and fisherman.

He leaves behind his five children; William Glazier (Palo Alto, CA), Susan Stampahar (Virginia Beach, VA), Amy Limina (Winthrop, MA) Christopher Glazier (Pearland, Texas) Kathleen Shivers (League City, TX) as well as 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, as well as Josh Ames and his family, grandson of Evelyn Merrill, who cared for him in his final days at Hiram, GA.

Private family services were held.

Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.
