Alba Luz Talavera
Alba Luz Talavera, 75, of Kingston, New York passed away on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025 after battling cancer for the last two years. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Feb. 6, 1950, they moved to Brooklyn, NY just three years later. Throughout her journey, Alba lived many places ultimately spending the last couple years with family in Kingston. She was a loyal sports fan (Go Bills, Cowboys and Steelers), who cherished spending time with family and had a passion for guiding youth. As a devoted Christian who had a servant’s heart, Alba served diligently with the Salvation Army for over 50 years. Though life throws many curve balls, Alba always stepped up to the plate. Her warm and generous spirit welcomed others with open arms. Whether she cooked you the best Puerto Rican meal or invited you on one of her crazy adventures, memories were always being made. Our biggest cheerleader, tenacious role model, and loving mother left an everlasting imprint on whoever she met. Surviving to cherish her memory are her four children, Bernadette (Jose) Cruz, Lawrence “LJ” (Stephanie) Abt, Byron (Hannah) Abt and T’ana Abt, as well as her eight grand gifts, and three great-grand gifts. She is also survived by her sister Josephine (Carlos) Talavera and many nieces and nephews. Alba is predeceased by her parents Ana and Julio Talavera as well as siblings Baca, Felix, and Julio. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Salvation Army.
