Brenda Marsh

Brenda Marsh
Brenda Marsh, 71, passed away peacefully at home in Fredonia, NY, on Sept. 20, 2025, after a prolonged battle with dementia.
She was born on Feb. 1, 1954, in Dunkirk, NY, the daughter of the late Mark Tenamore and Gertrude (Schrader) Tenamore.
An attendee of Dunkirk High School, Brenda dedicated over two decades of her life to serving others at the Chautauqua County Home, where she worked as a Cleaner until her retirement in 2010. Known for “bending the rules” to support aides and ensure residents received the extra care and attention they deserved, Brenda formed close, meaningful relationships with many of those she served. Bringing friendship and warmth to others brought her tremendous joy.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Gertrude Tenamore; her brother, Robert Tenamore of Dunkirk; and her uncle and aunt, Russell and Nina Tenamore of Dunkirk.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, David Marsh, and her beloved beagle, Callie. She also leaves behind her son, Robert A. Tenamore of Fredonia; her grandsons Markus Tenamore of Jamestown, and Dominic and Sam Tenamore of Fredonia who were her pride and joy; and her cousin, Roxanne Tenamore of Fredonia.
Brenda was a woman of great energy, and was outspoken, generous, and fiercely devoted to her family, whom she often said were her greatest accomplishment aside from keeping her husband in line. She loved staying busy and was a proud member of Holy Trinity Church, where she found comfort in her faith, as well as the local garden club. Brenda’s famous Christmas cookies were a family staple, and her beautifully painted ceramics still adorn her vibrant flower and vegetable gardens. She lovingly used her talents to decorate the gravesites of loved ones, ensuring they remained beautiful and cared for.
Brenda’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to her personal care aid, Alicia, for her exceptional care of Brenda up until her passing.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY. Interment will be held in private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
